I'm working on a novel and I wanted, at first to have the main character live in Christchurch.
Then I started research and downloading maps and Mt. Evans became important which led me to Purau...
Google is a little slight with information and I'd love to communicate with a few natives; to get a "feel" for the area!

p.s. I live in Florida, USA

I would like to apologise if you have seen some of the unauthorised stupid links that some ar**holes keep posting in the guestbook.
I do try to check this out everyday and ensure that these are deleted before they are seen and cause offence. Once again I apologise.

For my clarity of understanding, would be possible to mark the location of yr webcam on your photo of diamond harbour? I fly my hangglider from the hills above Allendale so its good to see what the cloud is doing in the harbour before driving up the port hills.

Thanks William - I was speaking to Clarrie's grand daughter today and she was pleased to hear that people remember. Most of the locals now drink at the Godley though and there are still plenty of TALL tales about.

Lived in Diamond Harbour 1957. Grew out door tomatoes, at Purau, on leased section for extra cash.During that period making home brew beer, was in vogue with some locals. Clarrie Paine operated the taxi service, Mrs Paine was Post Mistress, P.A.M. Heath was the Dotor, Ted Edwards and friend Phillis, lived over our back fence and was re biulding a 1930's Chev station waggon.Mr. Woods L.H.B. with sons Warren, Richie and daughter were also close neighbours. Geoff Henderson , the local agricultual contractor with his Fergy tractor had spud and tomato gardens in the area, while many a TALL tale was spread around the bar at Ma Packers Teddington Tavern , late on a Friday afternoon.OHHHH the memories........
